Pneumonia

Pneumonia is a common disease, showing inflammation of lung tissue caused by pathogens mostly bacteria. Typical symptoms are high fever, chills, cough and purulent sputum test pleural chest pain (pain when inhaling deeply, coughing). Tests to help diagnose the disease is X-ray. When not diagnosed and treated promptly, usually progressive severe pneumonia can cause acute respiratory failure, sepsis and death. Go see a doctor soon to be medical examination, chest x-rays, blood tests and antibiotic therapy appropriate timely treatment is the key to success.

The common symptoms as pneumonia?

Pneumonia Patients often appear fever, cough purulent sputum production, chest pain type pleura (ie, chest pain when coughing, deep breathing, postural changes).
Depending on the different pathogens that symptoms and disease progression may vary slightly:
+         Pneumonia caused by bacterial pathogens typical: most cases patients have episodes later chills fever> 39 0 C, together with cough and purulent sputum type pleural chest pain. However the age lớ may not have a fever; patients may manifest cyanosis, dyspnea, tachypnea> 30 times / min; Patients may appear in lip blisters (herpes labialis called)
+         Pneumonia caused by bacterial agents of atypical: mostly occurs in adults and children with symptoms silently over the course include: mild fever, headache, cough, fatigue like symptoms viral infection.
X-ray is the standard test for diagnosing pneumonia. Will appear on the X-ray images of tissue damage, such as damage to alveolar, interstitial lung.
CBC tests showed elevated blood leukocytes evidence for bacterial infection. So implanted radio, allowing blood cultures found pathogenic bacteria.
Tests to measure the concentration of O 2 and CO 2 in the blood showed a decrease in oxygen ± increased carbon dioxide in the blood evidence for respiratory failure patients.
Evolution of pneumonia:
If diagnosed and treated promptly with antibiotics appropriate, pneumonia progresses very favorable, the patient will reduce fever and cough sputum decreased within 48-72 hours. Pneumonia can recover completely sequelae what time antibiotic treatment lasting from 5 to 10 days depending on circumstances.
If the patient to the doctor later selected or inappropriate antibiotic from the beginning, progression to severe pneumonia more. Patients will continue to cough and fever, shortness of breath symptoms appear due to respiratory depression, hypotension and even cardiovascular collapse due to septicemia and shock infections. In some cases, complications of lung abscess, empyema, endocarditis (endocarditis infection), meningitis, arthritis direct threat to the lives and left much later sequelae .
